The variety of works presented in the show - for example, PET bottles modeled from clay, ceramic plates, bread sculptures, terrazzo plates with inlaid stones, or her own currency – are connected by the artist's subtle examination of objects of our everyday use and their materiality as well as their social and cultural anthropological meanings. Collecting things - often found objects that the artist brings back with her from her travels - forms the essence of Anna Paul's artistic practice and is inextricably linked with her work, both in terms of content and form. With sortiment the artist develops a lexical form of order.
Für die Ausstellung Sortiment versammelt Anna Paul ausgewählte Überlegungen zur uns umgebenden Umwelt in Form von konkreten Objekten, Skulpturen und Fundstücken aus der Natur und materiellen Kultur, die sie in handelsüblichen Stapelbehältern in einen Rahmen setzt und zu dialogischen Arrangements im Spannungsfeld zwischen Wirtschaftlichkeit und künstlerischem Experiment zusammenfügt.
Die in der Schau präsentierte Vielfalt an Werkgruppen - beispielsweise aus Ton modellierte PET-Flaschen, keramische Platten, Brotskulpturen, Terrazzoplatten mit eingelegten Steinen oder eine eigene Währung - eint eine feinsinnige Auseinandersetzung der Künstlerin mit Gegenständen des alltäglichen Gebrauchs und der Materialität von Dingen sowie deren gesellschaftlichen wie kulturanthropologischen Deutungen. Das Sammeln von Objekten bildet wiederum das Wesen der künstlerischen Praxis von Anna Paul und ist inhaltlich wie formal untrennbar mit ihren Werken verbunden. Speziell für Sortiment erarbeitete die Künstlerin aus der Auswahl ihres umfangreichen Schaffens eine nahezu lexikalische Form von Ordnung , die in und auf Displays in Gestalt von Eurostapelbehältern neu gebündelt, versammelt oder in Beziehung gesetzt werden.
